LossieRadio

It’s a pretty simple idea with massive potential for our town. 

Lossiemouth is a superb place to live – and a fantastic place to visit, as many thousands discover each year.  Like most Scottish coastal towns we have a rich maritime history, but there is a lot more to Lossie past and present.  Our community is not an insular one, but some of us do need to shout a bit louder about ourselves and what we have to offer residents and visitors alike. 

To help that along, enter Lossie-Radio.

A community radio station can of course use the traditional method of broadcast either via FM or AM radio, as many already do around the world.  In time we hope to do the same – but we’ll start with the on-line community, allowing Lossie-Radio to shout out to the entire world, perhaps educate a little – and perhaps entertain a lot.  We’ll try our best anyway.

This project has been started by a local resident, Stuart Crowther.  Stuart moved to the town in April 2010, so is new to living in Lossie – but not by any means new to the town, as he can trace his lineage from his Mother and Grandmother all the way back through a couple of centuries of Lossie Fowk! 

Stuart’s own background includes being something of an Internet Radio pioneer, mainly connected with Hibernian Football Club in Edinburgh for whom he started an on-line radio station that ultimately led to an entirely new media outlet for the SPL Football Club that was an example followed by many others.

Stuart is currently busy forming the group of local people who will deliver this service to our community, and to Lossie Fowk around the world - or of course those many, many thousands with an interest in our town. The radio station is however broadcasting 24/7 while this is going on, with Stuart and Douglas Coutts both producing test programming for Lossie Radio - some of which can be heard to the left of this page!
